It’s Valentine’s Day. How often do I forget that a family model of ministry begins with a marriage?
In our homes we have children. We spend many resources talking about how to parent and how to raise them to be Christ-following adults. That’s good. As I mentioned in my last post, whatever we tell our kids, they see through lies and misinformation. They learn how to relate to people through how others, especially their parents, relate to them.
This is Valentine’s Day. Let’s celebrate the marriages of our families at home and remember each one comes with unique challenges. Particularly, in Ephesians, Paul says, “Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her.”
Today, renew your desire for your wife by giving yourself up for her. Make her holy. Cleanse her with sacrificial love.
Remember that the supreme marriage is the one between Christ and the Church. In accepting the church with it’s flaws, he sacrificed his own life.
